Featured Wind Phone ~Capannoli PI, Italy

There is a unique story behind each Wind Phone that is best told by its creator and/or steward. No one can tell it the way they can, so to that end, the format for Featured Wind Phone stories is to share the creator/steward's responses to the interview questions verbatim in their own voice. Sharing our stories helps us to connect and heal and may inspire someone else to create or visit a Wind Phone.

What would you like to share about your Wind Phone?

At Podere Tegolaja, a place from where you can see the sea and the Apennines, we inaugurated the Telefono del Vento. Who in life has never felt the need to scream at the sky? Or reconnect with those who are no longer there? Here, immersed in nature, it is possible.

On the hill, the highest in the area owned by the farm, you can therefore walk, stop to meditate, observe the panorama from east and west with the possibility, on days when the sky is particularly clear, to see both the sea than the Apennines, lulled by silence, with only the sound of the wind. A magnificent place and the wind telephone is also a way to make known a corner of the Valdera that has not been explored too much. During the Second World War, this hill was a place of clashes and conflicts. We wanted to create a place of peace. Two routes have been created to reach the telephone: the first which arrives from the forest with a discovery of plants typical of the Tuscan Forest, from oaks to laurel, acacia, and other plants, with a set of scents and sounds that will prepare visitors to reach the telephone and another across a path with lavender and rosemary beds at the edges and a large flower meadow

next to it.

“The wind phone was placed on the land of the Tegolaia farm by Marco Vanni, an Italian photographer. The Italian wind phone’s position has not been randomly chosen. The installation took place on the highest hill in the surrounding land, inspired by the sound of the wind while observing the landscape surrounding the hill. Here, you can stop, breathe, listen to yourself, and free yourself from the burdens you have never been able to let go of with words.” TheMayor.EU
